Jezebel
When I called Robin's Hotline a while back she talked some about her movie idol, Bette Davis. Specifically Robin compared Vivien Leigh in "Gone With The Wind" to Bette Davis in "Jezebel." It made me curious about the movie, "Jezebel." I saw it years ago and plan to rent it again in the future. The one thing I recalled is the fiery, rebellious nature of the central character, Julie Marsden, who dared to wear a red dress to a ball. After she wears the dress to the ball, her fiance Preston breaks it off with her for good. Soon he takes up with another woman. The movie involves a love triangle but really is so much more. Watch it. Davis won an Oscar for her performance.

Jezebel is a romantic melodrama that takes place in early 1850s New Orleans ante-bellum society. It studied Southern chivalry and honor. The role of the title character was offered as compensation to Bette when she lost the opportunity to play Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind. In fact, the film has been called a black-and-white version of the famous Selznick film that was in its pre-production stages. There is a plot that revolves around Julie wearing a red dress to a ball instead of the classic white dress that all unmarried girls wore at the time. Because of the beautiful staging and cinematography, we don't even notice that the infamous red dress is in black and white. It's a classic must see for all Davis fans. JEZEBEL-Waltz scene (Olympus Ball)
On the Nov. 19th episode of OLTL, Dorian Lord had sex with David Vickers in the Texas home of the deceased Asa Buchanan, who is the father of Clint Buchanan--Dorian's boyfriend. Dorian was hurt after seeing Clint kissing Nora Hanen in the stables of the Texas ranch. As Dorian described it, "hurt" and "shocked," she sought comfort with her ex-husband, David. The next morning, Clint discovered the two of them in bed. Draped in bright red bed sheet, Dorian followed a furious Clint into the living room of the ranch house where she saw Nora. "Jezebel!" Dorian seethed. Surrounded by Nash Brennan, Jared Banks, Nora and Dorian, Clint grabbed a nearby firearm and aimed at David's brow. Dorian screamed. Clint threated to blow David's head off before Clint's daughters appeared, causing Clint to lower his weapon. Dorian tried to reason with Clint -- but, he wanted her gone and seemingly out of his life.
