Let's Talk Turkey

Who wants to go into the holiday season with the unsettled matter of your future hanging over your head? Over the years, Ms. Strasser has communicated these sentiments via her Hotline. Her fans are pretty clear that she is nearing the end of her current contract (February, 2008). Consequently, it's time to assess things with this dynamic Diva as it relates to One Life to Live and her character Dorian Cramer Lord.

c4.jpg image by cher1962langston34.jpg image by cher1962Most recently, the Mannings (Blair, Starr, Jack, Todd) have moved into Dorian's home, LaBoulaie. Secondly, Dorian, who has to date been portrayed as falling in love with Clint Buchanan, is suddenly needing to think about whether they should get serious about each other. This is happening just as Clint is getting closer to Nora, his brother's ex, who is now living in the Buchanan mansion with her son, Matthew, at Clint's invitation.  Also, there is Langston Wilde, Starr's best friend who has easily bonded with Dorian. Langston's parents are dead and she lives in a foster home. As of this writing, Blair has volunteered to be a foster mother to Langston, which means that Langston will join the other Mannings in living at LaBoulaie (I am told Dorian will likely be the foster parent--we'll see.)  Lastly, Dorian's flesh and blood daughter hasn't really been in many scenes with her and they continue to have a strained relationship. (Rumors persist that Melissa Gallo, who plays Dorian's daughter, is not renewing her soon-to-expire contract.) All the above said, Dorian is sort of isolated and put in a position where she could be written out if warranted.

Sigh. I've seen this happen before with performers where the show positions itself should negotiations not work out. Ms. Strasser has certainly expressed a desire to continue working on OLTL. As fans, the only thing we can do is support her by writing the network and Ms. Strasser --her mail is counted. The written correspondence can be via email, postcards, letters and you can make phone calls that express why Ms. Strasser and Dorian are valued on OLTL.  If you are indeed a fan, take a moment to express your thoughts to those who can keep you watching this dynamic Diva on your favorite soap.
