REVENGE!!
(SPOILER warning)
Move over Barry Diller and David Geffen! Make way for the Queen Bitch of Llanview --Dorian Cramer Lord, who has returned to her thrown! Dorian has managed to out maneuver her manly allies in her mission for revenge. And, the motive is that of self-respect, love of family and well frankly, for the thrill of it.
This week, Dorian is revealed to be the woman behind recent events to bring down Buchanan Enterprises. As I've watched and enjoyed Clint Buchanan transform more into an Asa-like character, I've pondered who was behind these takeover attempts that were foiled as Lindsay Rappaport provided Clint with ammunition to use against opponents. I wasn't sure if Head Writer Ron Carlivati was going to point the finger at Dorian. This week's soap mags make it clear he has done just that.
Here's a write up in Soap Opera Weekly: <Provided courtesy of the Bo and Nora message board and Cindy, who typed it up. Thank you>
Holy takeover, Batman! Dorian is behind the hostile attempt at BE, although no one in Llanview knows it yet.
"All of these guys who are pawns in her takeover are significant shareholders of BE," explains OLTL executive producer Frank Valentini. "She is using them. The big reveal will be how she used them, which is pretty clever of her."
This week, she adds Calvin Jenkins (played by Burke Moses, ex-Bulge OLTL) to the list to approach Clint. Dorian's penchant for revenge is legendary, but her desire for BE is only partially because of her breakup with BE chairman, Clint. "It's not so much that Clint dumped her, but the way he dumped her," says Valentini. "Dorian won't stand for being treated that way. Clint really cheated on her first; he kissed Nora."
Dorian retaliated by sleeping with David, which Clint walked in on. Clint refused to let her explain, and then humiliated her by moving in with Nora. But in Dorian's mind, this takeover is not just about revenge."
"She's doing it for her girls," says Valentini, citing the famed Cramer women. "It's all for the love of her family. Whatever sort of collateral damage or benefits come along the way, fine. Dorian's a thrill seeker. People forget that about her. She did this just to see if she could do it. And wow! She pulled it off. She pulled off something that Barry Diller or David Geffen would do, and that's pretty foxy for a chick to do. I think the audience really digs her for that."
And when the truth is revealed? "Most of the people in Viki's family will be affected and hurt by it," warns Valentini. Which makes sense, since Viki has always been Dorian's favorite "collateral damage."

WHY IS DORIAN SO MAD? It all began in 1974, when Dr. Dorian Cramer lost her medical license when she accidentally gave a patient an overdose. Dorian vowed to sink everyone in Llanview for destroying her career, and she's been on the warpath ever since.HATING VIKI: Dorian's marriage to Viki's father, Victor Lord, kicked off a lifelong family feud. To keep Viki quiet after Victor's death (supposedly by Dorian's hands) Dorian threatened to expose the fact that Victor had sexually abused Viki. Viki got so stressed that several alternate personalities emerged (in addition to Niki, there was Princess, Tommy, Jean and Tori). Later it was revealed that Tori had killed Victor. But driving Viki mad wasn't enough: Dorian also seduced her son, Joey, went after Viki's men (Joe, Clint and Sloan), and framed Viki for embezzlement. Talk about a stepmonster. HATING NORA: The DA is dating Clint, so Dorian has threatened to show all of Llanview the tape of Nora going through the secrets at The "Go Red" Ball. Too bad Dorian is on that same tape doing the same thing. HATING REX: No one will ever be good enough for her precious ODD-riana, so Dorian made it appear that Rex was a heroine addict and then that he was stalking Adriana. Now she's splitting them up the old-fashioned way, with another woman: Gigi! |
