All of course was not smooth sailing as Clint was convicted of killing Viki’s psychiatrist and Viki was committed. Eventually they were exonerated, reunited and remarried with great joy at Asa’s after Viki announced her pregnancy. Tina after losing Llanfair, took a trip to Sweetwater to dig up some dirt on Clint’s past. She found accidentally that he had a son named Cordero Roberts. Tina wanting Clint’s heir, hit on him but honestly fell madly in love with Cord. He followed her back to Llanview and Clint and Cord immediately formed a father/son bond with Clint always referring to him as “son”.

It was almost instinctual as Clint had no clue of who he was. Cord’s mother, Maria , came to town fearing that Asa would find Cord and hurt him. She and Clint met up one day and the young man earned a special place in Clint’s heart but Asa was terrified. He knew Clint would never forgive him for depriving him of his son. Tom Dennison came to town; he was Joe’s long lost twin brother and a journalist also. Clint and Viki welcomed him to their lives, regaling him with stories of the beloved Joe.
After Viki went into labor at the cabin and Tom and Marilee drove her to Llanview (never leaving her alone; we all saw that okay) and Clint joined her at the hospital (never leaving her alone; we all saw that too), she gave birth to Jessica with Clint at her side. Clint was overjoyed and Asa was disappointed but he decided a girl would be okay after all. The family brought their treasure to Llanfair and Maria made a big show of bringing Cord’s christening dress for Jessica to wear and brining many baby mementos.

Viki was disturbed and Clint felt sorry for her as her husband had died.
Jessica was kidnapped and during the vigil for her return, Viki discovered that Cord was indeed Clint’s son. She told him the truth and Clint went to find his son. But not before trying to kill Asa and once again cutting him out of his life.
Cord and Clint, already fast friends gave up pretence and became father and son almost immediately. Jessica was returned but the strain on Clint and Viki’s marriage was showing. Clint had believed that Niki Smith came back and Viki found another man to lean on; Tom Dennison. Soon Viki suffered memory loss and believed Tom to be Joe. Clint was devastated as she was madly in love with Joe/Tom and rejecting him outright. She wanted a divorce and custody of the children. Clint once again was heartbroken and turned to the devil himself Asa to help him keep his children. The judge needed no convincing Viki was obviously unstable and awarded custody to Clint with the help of Herb Callison.
Viki was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and underwent delicate surgery to save her life. She had an out of body experience and Clint kept a 24/7 vigil at her bedside. He was loyal as the days were long and when she awoke she once again remembered him and begged his forgiveness for her transgression with Tom. Clint forgave her apologizing for believing Niki had returned. They reunited and shared a blissful episode or two until….
Tina was arrested for the murder of Maria Vasquez. She was convicted of the crime and sent to Statesville. Max Holden and Cord had broken her out of prison and Clint arrived to help after Viki put herself in harms way to see her sister. The dastardly Jamie Sanders shot Clint in the head, blinding him and almost killing him. Clint had a terrible time adjusting to his blindness and soon found out he would die if the bullet fragments in his head shifted. It seemed inevitable and he tried to convince Viki to move on with Tom Dennison ala he and Viki after Joe’s death. Viki proclaimed her undying love for him and they moved to Clint’s ranch in Arizona so he could be around everything he loved and take better care of himself.
Clint the manly man wanted to train for a 100 mile endurance test on horseback. Viki thought he was crazy and when he wouldn’t relent she left him (as usual) and went back to Llanview. Cord had hired his uncle George Vasquez to work at the ranch and George had never forgotten Asa or that Clint had knocked up his sweet little sister Maria. Clint blind and vulnerable fell victim when George drugged his loyal ride Oakey. The confused horse threw him in the dessert and Clint was soon declared dead. Viki and the children were lost and moved back to Llanfair full time. All the while Clint was having an out of body experience believing he was back in time with he and Viki’s ancestors. At this time FauxBo tried to seduce Viki but her posthumous loyalty to Clint was unshakable. Cord and Tina found their child, who had been lost, and named him Clint James in honor of his beloved father. Viki adored the boy and doted on him to help ease her own pain.
Viki went back to the ranch at Kevin’s urging and met Clear Eyes a wise Native American who convinced her to keep looking for her true love. She woke up in the hospital heartbroken that she had a dream of being reunited with Clint. Suddenly the RN, yet another one of Clint’s friends from his dream, tried to calm the man who had the hospital in an uproar. Viki ran out into Clint’s arms and they were reunited. She triumphantly took him home to Asa and the boys who were overjoyed to have him back in their lives.
Soon Viki attended her 25th High School reunion and was assaulted with the fact that she did not finish her senior year. Viki had no memory of this year and soon learned she had given birth to a daughter and Larry Woleck had covered it up. Viki obsessed with finding her daughter neglected Clint and the children and soon found Megan Gordon was her child. She had married Roger (she forgot that too) and never divorced him. Viki and Roger became inseparable trying to recapture their lost youth and Clint became insecure and lost that she would forsake him yet again and moved to the Carriage House as he would not leave his children or just let her have her way with Gordon. Viki ran for Mayor against Clint’s friend Herb Callison. Roger found out that Viki was in danger and Clint reunited with her to protect her and Roger went to the enemy camp in order to do the same. Viki won the election but was angry that Roger and Clint had deceived her. But since she and Clint were back in the saddle and her family complete she decided what the heck and stayed with the cowboy. Frankly poor Roger was an incredibly boring fellow whose shoulders were not even as broad as Viki’s and he had the personality of a doorknob. The choice was a no-brainer.
As mayor Viki was a target for many bad guys (like all soap opera mayors) and was shot. She then, of course, suffered a stroke. Her recovery was slow are arduous. But with Clint’s love and encouragement she recovered as usual. Clint was happy to celebrate the arrival of his second grandchild, Sarah Victoria Roberts.
The pesky bullet fragment in Clint’s brain started shifting again and he was told once more to make his final arrangements. Viki found him in he arms of a grief counselor the was seeing to help him deal with the idea of never seeing his children grow up. He confessed the truth and she beseeched him in all sorts of verbose manner to have the very risky surgery that could indeed save his life. He did and survived to attend Megan’s joyful wedding to Jake. They were wistful and romantic, Clint thanking her for all the joy she brought him, and Viki declaring her undying love and affection for him. It was the last time she ever would…..
Soon afterwards Cordero; Clint’s oldest son was declared dead. The vixen Blair Daimler had seen him shot and drowned in the Jaba River. Clint was devastated but Viki told him to buck up and take care of Tina and the kids and help them to get through their grief. Shortly thereafter Megan was diagnosed with lupus and began a fast decline in her health. Clint still reeling was left alone. Viki would not discuss Cord’s death or help Clint deal with his own grief. She was too busy beseeching to heavens to spare Megan. Alas, poor Megan died after a week of great video flashbacks of her and every body else in Llanview’s life.
Kevin impregnated and married LeAnn Demerest whom Viki never liked. Clint tried to be supportive of the young pair which strained their marriage. Sloan Carpenter came to town to write a book about Victor Lord. Viki giggled to Clint that he reminded her of her father and was all that her father ever was. Clint knew at that moment he was in trouble….Demerest Duke Buchanan was born and the family rejoiced. The young couples marriage fell apart and Viki backed LeAnn, as a mother is the better parent to raise a child; Clint as always stood by Kevin. It was a battle royale and put indelible strain on Clint and Viki’s marriage.
Viki and Sloan had become fast friends…like Viki and David and Viki and Tom and Viki and Roger…They laughed over enjoying and IVY league education and proper “old money” upbringing. Clint was jealous and continually asked Viki NOT to continue pursuing her friendship with Sloan. Viki refused. He was her new best friend and Clint could just deal with it. Joey developed a relationship with a gay boy named Billy Douglas. After Joey came home beat up, Clint forbade him from hanging around Billy. Viki was aghast. So what if Joey got beat up, he should stand by his gay friend. Sloan agreed with Clint and confessed that he had beat and disowned his gay son. It was all really sad as Sloan was now sorry because the kid had died of AIDS. Sniff, sniff. Viki could totally understand Sloan’s point of view but Clint was a horrible brute and she could not understand his point of view. Clint came around, realized he had been wrong and apologized to Joey and to Billy. They became friends and Clint took both boys on several outings as Billy’s father disowned him.
Clint received a miracle one evening when he was alone at Llanfair and Viki was in her office making out with Sloan. The maid told him someone was here to see him and he turned around to see Cordero alive and well come back to him. He was beyond thankful, gathered the family and Viki even left her heavy make out session to come on home and be part of the family once again proclaiming her love and affection for Clint-- well for that week anyway….
Soon it would be over. Clint would not budge on Viki and Sloan -- not being best friends and not sleeping together. Viki proclaimed she just wanted to be happy sniff sniff and went off to a hotel rendezvous with Sloan. Dorian ever Viki’s nemesis got wind of the tete’ e tete’ and misinformed Clint that Viki was at a Ski Lodge broke her leg and needed him. Clint raced to be by her side as was his usual routine and walked in on her and Sloan a deux. He was devastated and Viki again sniffed that she just wanted to be happy why couldn’t he understand? They had champagne, music and caviar but it was a cheap, sleazy way to end a beautiful family.
Clint went home, packed his things and left for Arizona to lick his wounds. Viki came home, moved Sloan into his bed and in his bedroom while the minor children Joey and Jessica were still living at Llanfair and she was still his wife. Such Class! Then Clint was nearly killed in a plane accident and Cord came to her to tell her that he was dying and he needed her. There were decisions to be made and she as his wife. Viki deferred to Cord, stating that she didn’t want Clint to think he could “count on me” or “have any hope for the future”. Cord shook his head and sadly went to be with his father. Cord, Kevin, Joey, Bo, Asa, and eventually Jessica all saw him healed and return home. By then he again begged Viki to save their marriage that he could forgive all for the sake of their family but Viki put her hand up, told him to forget it and that his family was over.
Clint found out Sloan was dying and “being mean” to Viki by telling her he had another woman. Sloan told her that Sloan was actually dying and they were married in the hospital while Clint--ever the masochist-- watched. Sloan croaked; David Vickers was revealed NOT to be long lost Viki’s brother and Viki discovered Joey and Dorian in bed together. It was all too much and her DID came on full blown with six personalities.

Clint spent the next years following her around so she wouldn’t kill herself or others, got her the help she needed and nursed her back to health. He tried to have a relationship with Carlotta but between Viki and Cristian wanting to sleep with 14 year old Jesssica….well he got pretty busy, ignored Carlotta so things never progressed.
Viki and Clint were inching…literally like one episode per month, back together. Finally Clint worked up the nerve once again to proclaim his love and devotion to Viki and ask for her delicate hand in marriage. She declined as after all she was a new and improved Viki and not certain she even wanted him. He was crushed.
Shortly after being crushed he met needy, beautiful, sexy, Lindsey Rappaport. They went to Vegas to find her ne’er-do-well son and had so much fun in Sin City they got hitched. Meanwhile Viki came back to Llanview and decided she would bestow upon Clint the great honor of once again becoming his wife. Too late, he came through the door with Lindsey in tow and the family celebrated. All except for Viki. She was irked he had the unmitigated gall to sleep with let alone marry another woman.
It didn’t work long. Sexy Lindsey was a conniver with a capitol C and when she gave Jessica the $$ to go have an abortion because her son was the father, it was the end of their marriage. Clint reeling, left for London to be with his sons Kevin and Cord and find some meaning in his life. His kids were grown. he was alone and he never wanted that for his future.
He came back for Asa’s wedding with Dallas Jones in tow. They were in love. Dallas while resembling Viki was her opposite in every way. Dallas had been married only once to a “Dallas Cowboy” and now she had a REAL cowboy so it was quite a cute family joke. Dallas was wealthy, kind, successful,a career woman with no children who was admittedly “completely devoted” to Clint. Clint confided to his brother that the biggest difference was that Dallas wanted him while Viki had needed him. He swore he would never go back to such a life again.
While in London Clint was hit with the news that Jessica his beloved “Yellow Rose” was not his daughter at all. Natalie was Clint and Viki’s. While welcoming Natalie with open arms and beginning a long distance relationship with his grown daughter Natalie, he and Viki formally adopted Jessica to reassure her she would always be theirs. Soon they found out that the dastardly Mitch Lawrence had raped Niki or Viki or somebody in there and Natalie Balsom was Clint’s child and Jessica was Mitch’s. Clint was devastated and Viki ever the trouper would not face him. She left if for a heartbroken Jessica to go to London to tell him that while Natalie was his, she was Mitch’s.
Clint took over Buchanan Enterprises Chairmanship both European and US divisions. He left son Kevin as the CEO where Asa had promoted and demoted him over the years; but currently Asa has left the company totally up to Clint and Kevin.

Dallas and Clint spent six years together in London but when he returned to Llanview, Dallas ended it, seeing his devotion to his family and knowing she could not compete being “across the pond”.
Now he’s come back home to reunite with daughter Natalie, son Kevin, and help daughter Jessica through her bout with DID.
He has renewed a relationship with Dorian Lord but this time it’s not adversarial and according to advance copy in magazines, the diva and cowboy are set to embark on a serious affair.
